Rent The Runway sounds like a pretty weird name for a business doesn’t it? Well actually it is a website sort of like Netflix. Netflix in case you don’t know is an online DVD and Blu-Ray Disc rental service, offering flat rate rental-by-mail and online streaming to customers in the United States. Well Rent The Runway lets you rent designer dresses for only a fraction of the cost.
Imagine wearing the hottest runway fashions from Diane Von Furstenberg to Chanel for 1/10 of the cost (AMAZING). The rentals usually run from $50 - $200 for a four-night loan of the designers dress and can be shipped straight to your doorstep. The dress will Come in two sizes just to be safe. How cool is that? After wearing the dress you simply put it in the envelope, drop it in the mail. Dry cleaning is included in the price, but damage insurance is $5 (TOTALLY WORTH IT), and in case of total annihilation of the dress, the renter is accountable for full retail price. Rent The Runway is a twist on the internet rent-by-mail model, which has been used for an array of things like textbooks, movies, and video games. Unlike those useful items, however, these dresses remind you of being Cinderella – on a budget.
Rent The Runway was founded by two recent Harvard Business School Graduates, Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Carter Fleiss. Ms. Hyman talked about how she thought of the idea for the service last year after watching her younger sister agonize over whether to buy an expensive new outfit to wear to a wedding. More than 500,000 women have signed up for the service, since it has been launched. This is an awesome website that you can check out @ http://www.renttherunway.com/ !!!
