Style My Hair Wednesday: Braided Headband

If you want to sport this look, you’ll need a mirror, a comb, rubber bands and hair pins. You can then follow these:

1.) Brush the right way – Choose which ear you’d want the braid to start. Tilt your head to this side and brush all the hair back away from the ear. The ear you’ve chosen should be facing the ceiling, while the rest of your hair should fall down.

2.) Prepare to braid – Looking into the mirror, use your comb in drawing a line from the top of your ear going up across and over to the top of the other ear. From the line, comb the hair forward to your face. Brush all remaining hair and secure them into a ponytail using a rubber band or ribbons.

3.) Start making the braided headband – Face the starting ear toward the ceiling and comb the hair to the front of the line across your scalp. Once you do this, you will be making a smooth path where the headband will be set. Using your fingers, you then have to divide the first strands right at the base (just in front of the ear you’re working on) and braid tightly. Continue adding hair from the line and forehead side of the head, creating a French braid around the head making a headband.

4.) Finish the braid off – Once you’ve reached the other ear, you can finish the braid with a regular braid. Tie the ends with a rubber band.
Style it – Let the ponytail from your back loose. Brush it or fluff your hair back to its regular style. If you want to make a more dramatic look, you can have the loose hair curled or straightened with a hair iron. If there are loose hairs around the braid, use a bobby pin to tuck them behind your ears. If you want to add bangs, use a rat-tail comb and pull several pieces of strands from the completed French braid headband.

Fashionista News: Rent The Runway

Rent The Runway sounds like a pretty weird name for a business doesn’t it? Well actually it is a website sort of like Netflix. Netflix in case you don’t know is an online DVD and Blu-Ray Disc rental service, offering flat rate rental-by-mail and online streaming to customers in the United States. Well Rent The Runway lets you rent designer dresses for only a fraction of the cost.

Imagine wearing the hottest runway fashions from Diane Von Furstenberg to Chanel for 1/10 of the cost (AMAZING). The rentals usually run from $50 - $200 for a four-night loan of the designers dress and can be shipped straight to your doorstep. The dress will Come in two sizes just to be safe. How cool is that? After wearing the dress you simply put it in the envelope, drop it in the mail. Dry cleaning is included in the price, but damage insurance is $5 (TOTALLY WORTH IT), and in case of total annihilation of the dress, the renter is accountable for full retail price. Rent The Runway is a twist on the internet rent-by-mail model, which has been used for an array of things like textbooks, movies, and video games. Unlike those useful items, however, these dresses remind you of being Cinderella – on a budget.

Rent The Runway was founded by two recent Harvard Business School Graduates, Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Carter Fleiss. Ms. Hyman talked about how she thought of the idea for the service last year after watching her younger sister agonize over whether to buy an expensive new outfit to wear to a wedding. More than 500,000 women have signed up for the service, since it has been launched. This is an awesome website that you can check out @ http://www.renttherunway.com/ !!!
